Before the Dawn in Beijing

[A Love Affair]

The nights were long, it seemed an era

(All before the dawn in Beijing),

Came youthful smiles, in my magic age

And we who listened to each heartbeat

A sweet compulsion of that sound

The burst, a mighty morning on Beijing;

Then yellow flowers seem to fall (sing):

She was an empire with pains and peaks

I an ocean, and sky above—

The dark was deep, a drowsy soul

Somewhere between reality and sleep,

Tides of Time and matter seeped—

Pure being, freed from memory

Of voices I have never heard,

And dreams and echoes

Nor did I find the light of the star

Before the dawn in Beijing,

Which haunts the hollow past in me…!

Writing the Perfect Love Poem

Writing a poem may be a huge challenge to those that have never done it before or even for those that have, but feel that it may not be powerful enough. What should be in a romantic love poem? What words should I use and how will I put it?

The beauty of a poem is that it does not necessarily have to rhyme. It can be whatever you want it to be, as long as you are completely honest. Describe in the poem the feeling you get everytime you see her face, how you heart pounds when she walks into the room, how every smile she gives you reminds you of a sunset. It all boils down to your own emotions. Try to be as vivid as possible and read it over and over until you feel that you are satisfied with what you wrote and put yourself into your partner's shoes and think if this would make your day if you got a similar poem.

Should you feel that your poems words are dull and flat, then the perfect program for you would be Microsoft Word. Like most of you know, by right clicking on a word and scrolling to synonym, you might find a word that will fit perfectly and best describe what you are feeling.

Doing some research and finding poems that are related to what you are writing about may well help you in your quest and give you some great ideas and understanding of what love poems are really about. You may also read some romantic novels to give you a better idea and vocabulary to impress the one you love.

Always be honest, vivid and descriptive of every feeling. Good luck!

Build With Air Poem

The ultimately environmentally friendly building product. Read the poem below and see if you might be able to use for your next building project.

It's time to help the planet, we should be building green
Don't use wood, recycle copper. No resource waste, stay lean

So let's use the most plentiful, building stuff on earth
The stuff that is there and here...been here before man's birth

Can shelter man and his things, and does more than we expect...
Conditioned its nice/comfortable... under pressure it does protect

So you want green, yes we sure have it, ready at first alert...
It's fast, and cheap and handy, as a pocket on a shirt....

Why Golf, Hockey and even Soccer use it to house their sport
Football even bulk materials say it's the best they all report.

So here you go, it's plentiful and put up with not a care...
This building protects you & your goodies; this building is built with AIR

Yes, air buildings of the new century, a building not only fast
But has control technology, and new materials to make it last...

So when you need conditioned spaces...places for people to gather...
Think of us, your air building people; thing to do when it really matters...

It's fast, cheap and long lasting. And boy is it really green....
No pollution cloud for air, strong under pressure and not seen...

So let's start building really green, let's build without a care...
Use the cheap & plentiful product, capture and use that air

Between Houses

Bedroom Window (Part One)

My prayers were said (at 10:30 PM)

and the neighbors were at rest-

(so it seemed, their lights were off

anyway, and the street-Cayuga,

outside our second story ledge,

somewhat vacant). And the night,

the night with its rich shinning

arch lights seeped through

our attic bedroom window;

and I could hear, hear

(through the stillness)

mother downstairs,

her presence, sounds of her voice

footsteps, they calmed me,

helped me get to sleep.....

Tires (Part Two)

Between the three houses

a wired fence stood

and trees and chimneys

and arch lights in the front

and the hot, hot summer

was just bearable-

(especially in the attic bedroom)

I often heard the sounds of tires

going by: wet, dry, screaming

tires, tires, tires-it made me

feel alive, almost tranquilized

me to a faster sleep.

The Color of War

Introduction: Here is an unusual war poem Dennis has written today, on the Iraqi war. He said after following it for four years, “…it is getting old; yet it sells papers doesn’t it?” He was for the war when it was a war, so he told me, but now it is not, it is more a police action, he explains to me, and feels perhaps we have overstayed our welcome. “And what are the motivating factors now?” he asks. He adds, “When we get into questioning the motives, after a war, when they are not clear, it is perhaps time to leave…” Dennis being a Vietnam Vetern knows a little bit about how it all works; and here in this poem, he paints his picture of war, the Iraqi war, and how he sees the colors of war through color crayons of a little boy.

The Color of War

[Iraqi: war poem]

I saw the other day—

A little boy coloring away

(With crayons) in a sketch book;

With every colored pencil

Under the rainbow—

And then some…

And when I took a second look

I thought of the Iraqi war

(American and Allied soldiers)

And all the colors it stood for:

Red was for the blood they’ve shed;

Gray, for depression of their families

Far away…

Blue was for sad skies;

Black and white, for death and life;

Green, for the spoils we’ve not seen;

Brown, for the dray and dusty nights

All the solders had to fight—on

Foreign ground.

I pleaded, for the boy to stop,

Surprised, he looked up at me—

With his deep blue eyes, haunting

Me, he said, with a tear on his cheek:

“I wanted to color the soldier’s feet!”

I looked and there it read: ‘Peace’

Already colored-in, with gray:

Said the boy still looking at me:

“That’s the way it came.”

Write Short Mother's Day Poem

If you want to express your deep love and appreciation on mother's day try writing a short mother's day poem. It's easier than you think! You can write it yourself and give it to your mother or just about anyone that you want to recognize for being a mom with your very own mother's day poems. Are you a little intimidated about writing your own poem? That's ok. I know how you feel.

After all, this is how poetry is defined:

1. a composition in verse, esp. one that is characterized by a highly developed artistic form and by the use of heightened language and rhythm to express an intensely imaginative interpretation of the subject.

2. composition that, though not in verse, is characterized by great beauty of language or expression: a prose poem from the Scriptures; a symphonic poem

No wonder it's intimidating to even think about writing a poem!!! You wanna know what I say. Balderdash. Write your own poem. Make it come from your heart. In your own words. Here is the process I use to make it easy for me. Before you look at one more site; one more page about mother's day take on this simple but powerful project.

Every day for the next week take 3 minutes (at most) in the morning and 3 minutes (at most) in the evening right before bedtime and reflect, remember, think, meditate on the moments you remember the most about your mother. Write down a few words about the feeling that comes up each of those times. Eventually you will connect with the essence of what your mother means to you.

Then go ahead and write your poem. Whatever you end up writing will be infused with the feelings, emotions, and memories that you want to celebrate your mother for.

You'll see how easy it will be.

Model's Poem

Spring Poem

Be thyself and nobody else

Be free, authentic, and happy

How else can you expect to be?

Decide and purpose to see

The inward priceless beauty

Cultivate it within deeply

Manifest exuberantly outwardly

First for your wonderful self

And than for the world to see

Celebrate yourself wholeheartedly

Live life fearlessly and triumphantly

Throw caution to the wind

Live your dreams until the end

Fall forward whenever you fail

Laugh, love, cry, and wail

Express your heartfelt emotions

Set your own miracle in motion

Earnestly pursue your devotion

Embrace your Creator's love potion

Let your heavenly Father above

Fill you to overflowing with His love

Be strong yet gentle as a dove

Proceed with heart and backbone

Remember you are never alone

The Lord of love is always nearby

To wipe the tears from your eyes

To stabilize your soul, remove the lies

Your authenticity never despise

Your own uniqueness by which you fly

Soar higher than the sky

Surpass troubles as you try

To persevere and not ask why

Because even a mess

Can become a mighty message

A hardship can be helpful

A difficulty can be divine

To readjust your perspective

Much of the time

To re-alter your mindset

Make your soul sublime

Help you overcome

The greatest crime

Self condemnation

Excessive accusation

Erroneous presumption

By which you dysfunction

Instead alter your quotient

Without a care, swim in the ocean

Be swept away for a cool breeze

Don't miss the forest in the trees

Gain a new outlook and insight

Settle down. It will be alright

Simply be free to sit and be

Dwell within happily

Honor feel more deeply

Take time to experience

Enjoy life more fully

Live from the inside out

Wipe away the sad pout

When you must, shout

Get your pain all out

The enemy of your soul

Victoriously conquer and route

Model womanhood without a doubt.

The Perfect Valentine's Day Poem

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

It's Valentine's Day

And a boring gift won't do!

It's Valentine's Day; the day of love and it's not too late to do something special for that someone special in your life. Here's how you can write your very own love poem in no time at all!

People get nervous about writing poetry, especially love poetry because they are afraid it won't be good or the person won't like it. Others have trouble because they just don't know where to begin or how to put what they are feeling into words.

If you're having trouble knowing how to start with your love poem, remember this: You don't want to just tell someone you love them. You want them to feel it in their hearts, in their souls, in their bones. This is where that whole "show, not tell" writing rule comes into play.

Begin with some brainstorming. Ask yourself this:

1. Who is your poem for?

2. Why are they special to you?

3. What are your favorite memories of this person?

4. When did you first meet?

5. Where did you first meet?

6. What is your favorite memory together?

7. What is your happiest memory together?

Now that you have something to go on, think more about the person you are writing the poem for. What comes to mind when you think of this person? Close your eyes. What do you see?

* If you had to name a scent to describe this person, what would it be?
* If you had to name a color to describe them, what would it be?
* If your loved one was an animal, what animal would they be?

You may not actually use these lines in your poem but they get you thinking outside the ordinary and in the poetic direction. Don't worry so much right now about rhyming or even about a rhythm. Just think about what you want to say.

Complete the sentences below for some possible starters:

Your eyes remind me of...

When I'm with you I feel...

My heart beats because you...

Your skin feels like...

My fondest memory is...

Your smile makes me think of...

When I gaze into your eyes...

When I spend time with you...

We can't all be Elizabeth Barrett Browning but that doesn't mean you can't use your own poem to show your loved one how much they mean to you on this special day.

Valentines Day Poem

It's Valentines Day

And I'm full of love today!

Even though I'm not elegant

Don't always know what to say

My heart's rejoicing anyway

I appreciate and love you honey

Your man without lots of money

Thanks for being patient with me

As I learn to express myself tenderly

Be to you the man you want me to be

Enrapture you with hugs affectionately

Kiss you passionately into eternity

Hold your hand proudly and confidently

As with you I feel the utmost security

Never have you done me wrong

Always you give me a brand new song

Filling my heart with joy all day long

Giving me courage to face every challenge

Giving me hope to hold my head up

Your love is to me a nourishing cup

From which I drink and am filled

To your needs I gently yield

When I am with you I am thrilled

All loneliness and restlessness you've killed

Caught like a fish in a hook

Me you have wooed and reeled

Into your loving arms

By reason of your grace and charm

Never again do I need to be alarmed

As together we walk arm in arm

Able to overcome any obstacle

Even if that includes riding a bus or bicycle

Or living in a poor pitiful apartment

Because on you my love I've spent

Economic provision has come and went

Therefore I'll work hard to pay the rent

Remain faithful and not resent

Our circumstances and difficulties

Because with you there is all pleasantries

Your attributes my favorite delicacies

Your smile radiant in beauty

Your hair luscious and angelic

Your mouth inviting and captivating

Your touch sensuously endearing

Your eyes gaze full of feeling

Your frame igniting and invigorating

All ushering forth romance intoxicating

With you there is no deviating

Together troubles we are eliminating

New opportunities continually creating

Our hearts omniscient never calculating

Serene spontaneity fast and fascinating

Slow monumental moves mesmerizing and melting

Our moments forever full and never dull

Able to awake the coldest heart from a lull

Remove the sorry soul from disappointment's hole

Heroically causing one to bounce back

Press on strong without any heart attack

Forge ahead, arising from the bed

Encouraging words feed us like meat

From no foe can we be beat

Affirming one another we valiantly defeat

From bitterness we become better and sweet

Lost in one another fully we are complete

My Valentine beloved from head to feet

Above and beyond all I could think of

Such depths of desire comes from God above

Let us therefore make merry in this divine love.

Thanksgiving Poem

Oh thank heaven

For love, life, and liberty

Inward peace and tranquility

Joyful jubilee

Because Christ Jesus

Died on the cross at Calvary

Rose from the dead triumphantly

This He did for you and me

To open blind eyes to see

To set the captives free

Empowering humanity

To become all they can be

Yet loving them unconditionally

Living together harmoniously

Overcoming hostility

Transcending divisions and differences

Breaking through barriers and distances

Building a bridge and alliances

Between the human race

That all men would seek God's face

Let go of pride and humility embrace

Pursue righteousness rather than disgrace

Consider the poor and homeless

Without food and a place

Let us not fight over trivial things

Nor continually war against nations

Profit at the expense of others without hesitation

No, let us arise and do the right thing

Come to give and to the table bring

Something of worth and value

Stop being self-centered

And thinking “Me, Myself, and I”

This makes the heart of God cry

If only someone could

Take up their cross and deny

The self-absorbing tendencies

The cruelty with which we alienate human beings

Replace complaining with thanksgiving

Give thanks for the simplicity of life

For your health

For your wealth

Be it inward or outward

Give thanks for your family and friends

Who stick with you until the end

Give a helping hand and lend

For you over backward they do bend

Thank God above your Creator

For the breath that you breathe

The beauty of His creation

Daily filling your eyes

Or this have you already despised?

Thank your Maker

For how He has unique made you

With all your gifts, talents, and abilities

Strengths, weaknesses, and frailties

Enabling you to bless and feel for others

Through your own personal victories, suffering, and pain

Such intangibles don’t disdain

For herein is found your fame

Your reason to live

Your reason to speak up and give

As you yourself identify

Discover your purpose, the reason why

For your earthly existence

Prayerfully press for divine Providence

Supernatural intervention

Blessings and assistance

Daily coming to you

Now then what shall you do?

What shall you give back

Before you consider your lack

Instead consider your plenty

Your personal prosperity

Examine what you have

Give thanks for that

Be thankful and grateful

For in so doing

You shall be filled with greatness

As you’re thankful, you’ll get rid of impoliteness

That is a huge personal gain

In and of itself

For selfishness is the root of sin

Make the inward adjustment within

Be thankful and win

Discover your personal wealth.

Then give it away generously and wholeheartedly

As you are thankful and giving

You shall grow exponentially

Love beyond boundaries

And live magnificently.

Cute Cat Poem

If I was a cat, I wouldn't like that.
A dirty old litter box; the dog can get at
He hovers around my cat box; frightening me.
I wish he would leave, I have to pee.
The dog is persistent, he won't go away.
My litter pan, has been invaded, again today.
He thinks it's a treat; he's wagging and chewing
He could get sick; he doesn't know what he's doing!
Oh, if I were a cat, I wouldn't like that
A litterbox is not for a dog, it's for a cat.

If I was a cat, I wouldn't like that.
A litter area, that even I can't get at
It's buried in the basement, all dark, damp and cold.
The scary noises, steep stairs, I'm getting too old.
I don't feel safe down here in the cellar.
Where is my owner, I want to tell her.
Oh, if I were a cat, I wouldn't like that
A litter box should be a private, safe place for a cat.

If I was a cat, I wouldn't like that.
My litter pan area's a mess, look at the mat.

Outside my box there is lots of strewn litter
The appearance is revolting; I'm starting to get bitter.
It's not right to leave my litter box this way.
Somebody help keep the litter mess at bay.
Oh, if I was a cat, I wouldn't like that
Dirty, messy, litter all over my mat.

If I was a cat, and was asked my choice
If I could be heard, with my tiny, small voice
The box I would ask for, if I could say
Get me a LitterHouse, right away.
It's private and hidden, and easy to clean
The LitterHouse is the best litter box, I've ever seen.
Controls cat odor and litter, with a charming good look
LitterHouse cat litter box is the best box, in my book!

If I was a cat, I would like that!!!
